Running and cycling to raise awareness of global water issues

In a remarkable year-long journey chronicled by the Los Angeles Times, Mina Guli, a 52-year-old Australian, ran marathons in 32 countries across the globe, from the scenic landscapes of California to the desiccated shores of the Aral Sea in Uzbekistan.

Her extraordinary feat was not merely an athletic challenge but a passionate call to raise awareness about the looming global water crisis. Despite enduring injuries, including a bruised hip in Jordan and painful shin issues, Guli persevered in her mission to complete 200 marathons in a year. Her final stride brought her to the United Nations headquarters in New York, where she implored thousands at a U.N. water conference to address the urgent water issues faced by communities worldwide.

Through her nonprofit Thirst Foundation and the Run Blue campaign, Mina Guli's remarkable dedication continues to inspire others to join the movement for water conservation and resilience in the face of climate change.
