Do you want to make the most of being a Country Captain? We’ve asked one of the most seasoned and successful Country Captains to share his tips and tricks.

Sohag Mohajon is the Secretary General Bangladesh River Movement. He’s passionate about raising awareness about water issues from his home country, Bangladesh. He was recently able to mobilised over 400 people to join us for a campaign. Here’s how he did it:

ONE

First of all, I make sure that both I and anyone I work with are sincere about environmental concerns. I do whatever I can to gain trust through verified facts about water issues. When you have mutual trust, advocacy becomes easier.

TWO

Think outside the campaign. Don’t feel shy to organise meetings and some workshops with people who may be interested but not yet have all the facts.

THREE

Don’t forget about younger advocates. They are our future environmental keepers. Plan activities that get them interested in saving water.

FOUR

Foster relationships. Don’t stop talking to your community after a campaign has ended. Keep the conversation going.

FIVE

Work honestly, selflessly and regularly. And say focused. You know what your goals are.
